چکیده

We study normal state properties of an interacting Fermi gas in an isotropic harmonic trap of arbitrary dimensions. We exactly calculate the first-order perturbation terms in the ground state energy and chemical potential, and obtain simple analytic expressions of the total energy and chemical potential. At zero temperature, we find that Thomas-Fermi approximation agrees well with exact results for any dimension even though system is dilute and small, i.e. when the Thomas-Fermi approximation is generally expected to fail. In the high temperature (classical) region, we find interaction energy decreases in proportion to T− d

Multicomponent strongly attractive Fermi gas: A color superconductor in a one-dimensional harmonic trap

Recent advances in ultracold atomic Fermi gases make it possible to achieve a fermionic superfluid with multiple spin components. In this context, any mean-field description is expected to fail, owing to the presence of tightly bound clusters or molecules that consist of more than two particles. Here we present a detailed study of a strongly interacting multicomponent Fermi gas in a highly elon...

One-dimensional multicomponent Fermi gas in a trap: quantum Monte Carlo study

One-dimensional world is very unusual as there is an interplay between quantum statistics and geometry, and a strong short-range repulsion between atoms mimics Fermi exclusion principle, fermionizing the system. Instead, a system with a large number of components with a single atom in each, on the opposite acquires many bosonic properties. We study the ground-state properties of a multicomponen...

آرام کردن مایع فرمی: جدال با علامتهای فرمیونی غیر مستقیم

The fermion sign problem is studied in the path integral formalism. The standard picture of Fermi liquids is first critically analyzed, pointing out some of its rather peculiar properties. The insightful work of Ceperley in constructing fermionic path integrals in terms of constrained world-lines is then reviewed. In this representation, the minus signs associated with Fermi-Dirac statistics a...

Monopole mode, scaling property and time evolution of a d-dimensional trapped interacting Bose gas at zero temperature: A time-dependent variational analysis

We study a generalised Gross-Pitaevskii equation describing a ddimensional harmonic trapped (with trap frequency ω0) interacting Bose gas with a non-linearity of order (2 k + 1) and scaling exponent n of the interaction potential. We explicitly show that for a particular combination of n, k and d, the generalised Gross-Pitaevskii equation has SO (2,1) symmetry and it shows the universal monopol...

Interacting Fermi gas in a harmonic trap

In view of ongoing experiments to trap ultracold spin-polarized Li, we study various properties of an interacting Fermi gas in a harmonic trap taking the discrete nature of the unperturbed harmonic trap levels into account exactly. As Li has a rather large and negative scattering length, we focus on the e ects of the attractive atom-atom interaction on several thermodynamic properties and on th...
